A kitten strolls across a lane in the old Cretan, Greek, village of Atsipopolou, shot with a Mamiya C220 TLR on Neopan Acros, developed in Fomadon P for eight minutes.
This is the sort of shot that is almost impossible to mimic in digital, not only the look of the lens but also the artistic advantages and limits imposed by the medium - both camera and film - create their own effects. The black and white film is also able to pull detail from an astonishing range of brightness - from the deep shadow of the tunnel to the whitewashed walls of the houses.
