He is one of a handful who still in 2008 pursued the old-fashioned lifestyle, working the land with a donkey as a beast of burden. Advocates of the "Cretan diet" as a magical route to a long and healthy life tend to ignore the active lifestyle and brutally hard work that accompanied it.
