This image of the ruler has appeared all over Qatar since the Gulf emirate was subjected to a blockade by neighbouring states that tried to topple the ruling family, ironically alleging that Qatar was supporting terrorists. The real reasons behind the siege appear to be rooted in the jealousies and fears of poorer Gulf rivals.
