Artist's Description
A late 1930s Baier Bairax German-made, self-erecting folding rollfilm camera, that takes eight 6x9cm negatives on a roll of 120 film. I have had spectacular results with this camera but, unfortunately, the shutter started to stick and the best efforts of a traditional watch-maker were not quite adequate to bring it back to life (the front plate of the shutter is pressing slightly too hard against something, if the pressure is reduced it runs properly).
This photo was shot using a Pentacon Six medium format camera, a type that was designed in 1955, and Fomapan 200 black and white film. The quality is not perfect but I believe it meets the professional standards expected in the era these cameras were made, which was the objective of the project.
